Unfortunate presentation of Tsvetana Pironkova of the season continues after the first missile failed to win their first game and super in Indian Wells.
Pironkova quit the race after losing in three sets by Frenchwoman Alize Cornet. 23-year-old from Plovdiv was categorically won their previous two meetings with this rival / 2007 in Bordeaux and 2008 in Stuttgart / but last night at Indian Wells was overtaken by a Cornet 5-7, 6-3, 2-6 in controversial match that lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Former champion Jelena Jankovic and Kim Clijsters prevented surprises and convincingly won their matches by a second round.
