One of the most emotional player Mario Ancic, a former number seven in the world rankings, announced his retirement from professional tennis because of health problems.
"The decision to terminate his career was extremely difficult for me, but after consulting with experts in Croatia, USA, France and Germany realized that my body no longer can withstand the pace of modern tennis," said tearful Ancic told reporters. "My last injury was a back drop that overflowed the cup," said 26-year-old player at a press conference in his hometown of Split. "It is very difficult and emotional day for me. However, I do not want this to be a sad day. I want to remember me with everything accomplished in tennis and the fame that brought to Split, Croatia. Everything has an end. I enjoyed every day in tennis, "said Ancic yet. Croatia reached the semifinals at Wimbledon in 2004. Ancic health problems began in 2007 when he was diagnosed with mononucleosis, which kept him out of tennis for six months. Furthermore, he suffered from injuries in the shoulders and back.
