One-seeded Robin Soderling in the scheme qualify for semis in tennis tournament for men in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. The Swede beat Mikhail Youzhny of 6:4, 7:6 (5) in the repetition of the finals last year.
Defending champion Soderling saved four attempts to break into the South in the first set and won a Russian rally in the tenth game. The second set was also similar, but the Swede has done more good game in the tiebreaker, leaving the South won five rallies.
"The match was pretty tough, but I'm brimming with energy and I was obliged to play well," said Soderling.
The Swede, who is fourth in the ATP rankings, will play Victor Troizk for his second title of the year after success in Brisbane. Croatian Serb side rival Marin Cilic of 7:5, 6:3. The other semifinal will play Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic and Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
