Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova withdrew from the tennis tournament in Paris, after having touched the virus and listen to the advice of doctors to take a break.
This player said in a statement itself. Sharapova, who was seeded two in the main draw, had to play American Bethanie Mattek by-Sands in the second round of the tournament later today.
Russian does not appear on several events during the week and managed to train only 10 minutes on Wednesday.
Sharapova's withdrawal, as well as several other strong players, seriously increased the chances of Kim Clijsters to become world number one if you qualified for the semifinals in the French capital.
