World No. 1 Rafael Nadal had no problems in his match with Australian Bernard Tomic and beat him 6-2, 7-5, 6-3, to qualify for second round of the Australian Open.
Tomic was the last Australian left in the tournament, after earlier in the day Samantha Stousar loses fight with Petra Kvitova. Nadal, however, disappointed local fans and got Tomic in three sets, but not showing his best game. The Spaniard had difficulties only in the second set when trailing 0-4 and two breaks, but to mobilize and win 7 of the next eight games to close the set.
