Federer won in Stockholm and tied the 64 titles of Sampras24-10-2010 |
Swiss maestro Roger Federer beat German Florian Mayer 6-4, 6-4, and won the Stockholm Open and tied Pete Sampras's record of 64 titles in men's tennis.
"It is fantastic to be here, can not fight tension and you get to the end. It was really difficult as you see, still breathing heavily. I think that Mayer played a great final, so I'm happy with my achievement," Federer said before the Swedish television. Meyer, who until now has no title in his career is still a long way to the top of his career, but for now yielding promising results. "It was a hard week. I came from Shanghai, where I had five games, then fatigue from the flight and everything so that my victory now really refreshed me," added Federer.
