Frank Seravalli discussed Connor McDavid`s contract situation. The Edmonton captain has one more season left on his $12. 5 million-per-year contract.
On July 1, Connor McDavid received the right to extend his agreement with the club.
Looking at the Connor McDavid situation, as far as I can tell at this point, I`m guessing it won`t be an eight-year deal. The period will be shorter, most likely four years. And somewhere from 16 to 17. 5 million dollars a year.
These are just rough estimates. This is the best I can guess at the moment. I`m not even sure it will be a four-year contract. I still think it makes sense to just do an eight-year deal and be done with it. If you`re Connor McDavid, the last thing you want is to go through that again.
He has so much leverage and control that if four years from now, three years from now, or whatever, he decides that the Edmonton Oilers can`t handle it and he has no chance of winning there, the best player in the world will raise his hand and say, I want to quit. And they will have no choice but to make it happen, said insider Frank Seravalli.
