Mick Schumacher has his sights set on a Cadillac seat. Alpine World Endurance Championship (WEC) driver Mick Schumacher has shared his thoughts on a potential return to Formula 1, which he left at the end of 2022.
Formula 1 is very close to my heart. I love Formula 1. I`ve loved Formula 1 since I was a little boy. I always kept an eye on her.
There is an amazing project at the moment, it’s a very interesting topic, ” the German said about Cadillac, the new championship team, in an interview with The New York Times.
Mick answered the question of what he can offer to the American team:
My career is very open, I act very publicly, and in that sense people know what to expect.
Of course, I have developed a lot since I spent two seasons in Formula 1. I was a reserve driver for Mercedes and then worked simultaneously with McLaren and Williams and gained knowledge. It`s very interesting to be part of different teams.
WEC is a very good championship, you learn and see something new. Formula racing is a very niche part of motorsport, and now I`m doing something completely different. I think this way you gain a wider range of knowledge, which is useful for many things. Let`s just say I understand the psychology of other pilots better. I also know how the different systems work – in F1 they are very limited compared to the WEC.
There are a lot of things that I feel have made me a better rider, for sure. Along with the time spent in Mercedes, this was very useful in acquiring various skills.
