Alexander Ovechkin opened the reconstructed playground where he played as a child. The Washington captain took part in the opening of a hockey rink in one of the courtyards in the north of Moscow, in the Golovinsky district, where he played as a child.
The renovated court was decorated in honor of Ovechkin`s record for goals in the NHL regular season. The sides of the box were replaced and an art covering was created, on which the number 895 and the inscription Eternal Record were printed, as well as an image of the hockey player himself.
In April, Ovechkin scored his 895th goal, becoming the NHL regular season record holder and surpassing Wayne Gretzky (894).

The opening ceremony ended with a symbolic throw by Ovechkin and an autograph session.
