The Cleveland Browns have taken a major step toward building a new stadium as the club and Haslam Sports Group have completed a deal to purchase a 176-acre site in Brook Park, Ohio.
According to 92. 3 The Fan, the deal was worth more than $76 million. Governor Mike DeWine is expected to sign amendments to the Art Modell Act soon, which will allow the Browns to move home games outside of Cleveland.
The club plans to begin construction in 2026, with the opening of the new indoor stadium scheduled for 2029.
Cleveland will thus become the first team in the AFC North Division to play indoors, giving up the benefit of severe weather conditions. After this, only the AFC East will consist entirely of clubs with open stadiums.
