The Carolina Panthers announced the release of 32-year-old pass rusher Jadaivion Clowney after just one season with the team. According to Over The Cap, this decision will save the club $7. 8 million under the salary cap in 2025.
In the April draft, the club selected two young edge rushers - Nick Skorton (Texas Au0026M) in the second round and Prinsley Umanmjelen (Ole Miss) in the third. Skorton (6-foot-1, 230 pounds) should take Clowney`s spot in the starting lineup.
Over the past six years, Clowney has been with five teams and signed four times in April or later.
Clowney played in 14 games for Carolina in 2024 and recorded 5. 5 sacks, down from his 2023 total of 9. 5 sacks. Pro Football Focus ranked him as a top-50 edge rusher in the league last season.
