Nico William`s mural will be restored again. Earlier, Athletic fans expressed dissatisfaction with the possible departure of the 22-year-old winger to Barcelona. They painted over Nico on a mural in the town of Baracaldo commemorating Athletic`s victory in the Copa del Rey. In place of the player’s image they left the inscription: Whether you leave or stay, you have lost respect.
The club announced that it has begun restoring the mural in collaboration with artist Carlos Lopez. However, unknown persons again ruined the image. They painted Nico`s face blue and wrote Fucking Rat.
Carlos Lopez, who is the author of the work, was again invited to repair the damage caused by vandals last night.
In a comment for Europa Press, the artist stated that the correction would only take him a couple of hours. In his opinion, the vandals spent more money on spray paint than he would spend on removing the paint.
He noted that the mural is already covered with a protective layer, which makes it difficult to cause serious damage.
