Edmonton`s general manager appreciated the contract extension with Jake Wallman. Yesterday, the 29-year-old defender signed an agreement for 7 years and $7 million per season. The agreement will come into force from the 2026/27 season.
I`m very happy. The process took some time, and we tried to work within our structure, but also evaluate Jake not only for his current performance, but also for his position on the team, as well as the market situation.
We really believe in him, he has fit in well with the team and has changed the makeup of our defense. Thanks to this, everything fit perfectly into place.
Walman is an incredibly competitive guy, a fighter, consistently blocks shots and is a great skater. He has a powerful shot and creates a threat in attack.
I think Jake fit the bill, so I`m really glad he believed in us and wanted to stay, ” Edmonton general manager Stan Bowman said.
