Adrien Rabiot sued PSG for compensation. The Paris club was ordered to pay Rabiot 1. 3 million euros after renegotiating the terms of previous contracts with the player.
Rabiot played for PSG from 2012 to 2019. The French midfielder, who now plays for Marseille, was suspended from the Parisians` training and matches in 2018 due to a conflict with management. In 2019, the football player sued the club.
The Paris Court of Appeal ruled that the player`s agreements with PSG should be considered contracts of open-ended employment (CDI), which automatically entailed compensation for lost wages, unused holidays and breach of agreements.
This is an important decision. It punishes a club for arbitrarily and unfairly suspending a player.
Adrien was then punished without reason - this sanction decision should not have happened at all, ” said the footballer’s lawyer Romual Palao in an interview with AFP.
According to lawyers, Rabiot was unfairly frozen as a professional footballer, deprived of the opportunity to play in the last six months of his contract with PSG.
