Gavin McKenna will continue his career in NCAA. The 17-year-old Canadian striker, who is considered the favorite of the NHL-2026 draft, said that he would play for the University of Pennsylvania in the coming season.
Last season, Gavin McKenna was called the player of the year in CHL.
Forward became the second scorer in the Western Hockey League (WHL), gaining 129 (41+88) points in 56 matches of the regular season for Median Hat. He was also recognized as the most useful player of the league with plus 60.
Gavin also became the third scorer in the Whole -off Whl, scoring 38 (9+29) points in 16 matches, which helped the Hat media to win the league championship and get into the memorial cup draw.

From the season-2025/26, players who played for clubs of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) are allowed to perform in the US student championship. The previously operating ban on such transitions was lifted.
