Armando Izzo from Monza justified the case of relations with the mafia. The current defender of the Club of Series A was accused of relations with the Camorrah (Neapolitan criminal structure, an analogue of the mafia - athletes ’‘) and participation in the organization of the contractual match of the series B between Moden and Avellino in 2014.
The investigation began in May 2016. In April 2017, ICSO received an 18-month disqualification, which was reduced to six months a month later.
According to the prosecutor`s office, the cousins of the player promised, and then transferred 30 thousand euros to the player Avellino Francesco Millesi in order to bribe the rest of the team players. Thus, they intended to influence the result of the game.
Izzo did not play that match, but, according to the indictment, agreed to receive a sum of money as compensation to achieve the result.
Civil Court also considered the case. In 2023, the Neapolitan court of first instance sentenced the defender to five years in prison.
Appeal was filed on this decision. The Court of Appeal canceled the initial conviction and withdrew all the charges from Izso.
