Yuki Tsunoda: My debut season in F1 created an image, and in 2024 my merits were valued less than others

Tsunoda spoke about the image that he developed in F1. Racing Bulls driver Yuki Tsunoda has admitted that he failed to leave the best impression in 2021, which partly determined Red Bull`s choice of Liam Lawson for 2025.
As for this, perhaps, in a sense, I am to blame, since I really couldn’t show results right away, in my debut season. A kind of image was created.
Although I performed well [in 2024], there was a feeling that my merits were valued less in comparison with other pilots, but that is what it is. Naturally, I just need to keep doing what I`m doing, performing well and proving them wrong about me.
I`ll just try to give fewer excuses or reasons why I`m not in this cockpit. I focus on what I can control and otherwise just accept the situation. I`m sure I`m capable of performing better than I think.
I would say communication has improved, mainly in terms of my expressions on the radio. Calm - in this regard, I would say there is definitely progress, I give more technical feedback, I have become more focused. I definitely feel an improvement and I`m very pleased.
Where we can improve is again in terms of technical feedback, especially in terms of the amount of it during the race - I can certainly say more, and sometimes it is not entirely stable.
It`s hard for us to consistently show speed. Sometimes you perform great, but the car doesn’t show itself. But I`m still quite happy with my stability at the moment. I always say that I could have done a couple of races much better, but overall I was pretty consistent.
I started the season very well, getting into the points quite consistently because the car was really good. At some point, Haas and other rivals began to overtake us, and we were unable to improve the car with updates, ” said the Japanese.
Yuki also spoke about support in the Racing Bulls (until 2025-RB):
To be honest, I actually don’t care what people say on social networks, because they don’t know what exactly is happening.
The only thing that matters is the team`s opinion of me, and I definitely feel a lot of support. They understand what happened in each race, and there is undoubtedly a lot of trust on their part. That`s the main thing and I really appreciate the team`s efforts.
Helmut Marko: Tsunoda is definitely faster than Lawson, but he is unstable and makes mistakes. Teaming up with Verstappen would cause problems emotionally
Did Red Bull make a mistake with their co-driver for F1 again? How much criticism!
