Sidney Crosby spoke about becoming Pittsburgh`s assists record holder. The Penguins captain assisted Michael Bunting in the NHL regular season match with the Islanders (3:2).
The 37-year-old Canadian has 1, 034 assists in 1, 310 matches. He passed Mario Lemieux (1033 to 915).
I guess I started to appreciate moments like this more and more. But in general I don`t think much about lists like this.
I really appreciate all the other guys on this list [of the best assistants in club history] for what they did. Especially Mario, considering what he means to the city and the organization. I think we all enjoy being part of a company like this, ” Crosby said.
Sidney could have become a record holder after the last game against the club from Long Island (3:6), but the program originally recorded for him was later removed.
It was a little weird, but I`m glad I ended up doing it at home. Plus, we won, ” Crosby said.
