Juan Martin del Potro said that he was thinking about knee replacement. The 2009 US Open champion has not played since February 2022. On December 1, he will play an exhibition match against Novak Djokovic in Buenos Aires.
Del Potro said that after the last match he underwent two more operations - but they did not help.
The knee defeated me. I have had eight surgeries with doctors from all over the world. Every time I was given anesthesia, I expected that the problem would be solved - but after 2-3 months I called the doctors and said that the operation did not help.
Some doctors say that it is possible to install a prosthesis and partially restore the quality of life. Others say I`m still too young. They say to wait until you`re 50. But since I was 31, I can`t run, I can`t climb stairs, I can`t kick a ball, I haven`t played tennis anymore.
Is it worth enduring another 15 years of this life? It`s horrible. I hope one day this will end. Because I want to live without pain again.
