Joao Fonseca commented on the victory at the ATP Youth Final Tournament in Jeddah. In the final, the Brazilian beat Lerner Thien – 2:4, 4:3 (8), 4:0, 4:2.
– I’m very proud of myself. I want to thank the team and parents who were with me during this week. I am proud of the way I played, how I defeated very good opponents.
– You are only 18 years old, you have won five matches on our site and earned more than 500 thousand dollars. How does that sound to you?
– I can’t say it’s bad (laughs). I`m young and fortunately my parents help me with this amount. . . She`s huge. Thank you very much.
– You joined such names as Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Brandon Nakashima, Mohammed Medjedovic – they won the same title. How does it feel to know that your name will now be next to theirs?
– This is simply amazing. I hope in the future I will become like them.
