Edwin van der Sar told how he survived a cerebral hemorrhage. The incident occurred in July 2023. The former Manchester United goalkeeper was placed in the intensive care unit, where he spent about 10 days.
– Edwin, can we take you back to that day? You were on holiday in Croatia. Could you tell me what happened?
– It was the last day of vacation. I woke up and felt something hurt in my neck and behind my shoulder blades.
Then I threw up in the toilet and went back to the room. The curtains were open, but I didn`t see any light. I lay down in bed and said: I need to call a doctor, I don’t feel well. It turned out to be a cerebral hemorrhage.
To be honest, it was a bit of a shock. Everyone thinks you`re healthy and strong - you never expect something like that to happen to a healthy 52-year-old man, ” said ex-Man Utd goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
