The case of Kylian Mbappe`s involvement in rape in Sweden has been closed. In October, the captain of the French national team rested in Stockholm during the national team`s match with Israel (4:1) in the Nations League. The Frenchman was spotted in a restaurant and later in a nightclub.
Subsequently, it became known that a police investigation had been launched into a complaint of rape in a hotel in the center of Stockholm, where the Real Madrid forward and his friends spent the night. Mbappe called this information fake. However, it was clarified that the raped woman named him as the culprit of the incident.
Today, Swedish prosecutors announced that the case was closed due to lack of evidence.
During the investigation, a person was reasonably suspected of rape and two cases of sexual assault. But, in my assessment, there is insufficient evidence for further investigation, and therefore the investigation is closed.
The person was not charged with a crime, prosecutor Marina Chirakova said in a press release.
