Cale Makar is a leading contender for the NHL`s best defenseman award. The authors of the NHL`s official website named the contenders for the Norris Trophy, a prize awarded to the league`s best defenseman at the end of the regular season.
Each of the 15 respondents identified five candidates. The points were distributed in a 5-4-3-2-1 formation.
The top five is as follows:
Cale Makar (Colorado) – 67 points (11 first places);
Quinn Hughes (Vancouver) – 50 (2);
Josh Morrissey (Winnipeg) – 48 (1);
Victor Hedman (Tampa) – 19;
Neil Pionk (Winnipeg) – 12 (1).
Makar scored 27 points (8+19) with a minus-6 utility in 19 NHL regular season games this season.
