Sainz spoke about the problems with the car in sprint qualifying in Qatar. The Ferrari driver took 4th place at the end of the session, which determined the starting order for tomorrow`s sprint at the Qatar Grand Prix.
The good news is that from a balance point of view the performance of the cars was better than expected, which was reflected in the lap times.
We approached the start of qualifying with confidence that our competitors would be very fast, and that’s what happened. In any case, we ourselves were not able to get the maximum out of our car. Although I drove my lap quite cleanly, the car suffered from severe understeer; throughout the entire lap I really couldn’t turn properly.
It was also difficult because it was my only fast attempt, just one chance, so I couldn’t take much risk with possible violations of the course boundaries.
I think we have the potential to improve our car a lot tomorrow, especially the pace on the soft tyres, which means we can hopefully take a couple of steps forward, ” said Sainz.
