The Brazilian Supreme Court opposed Robinho`s release from prison. The former striker of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Milan and the Brazilian national team was sentenced by an Italian court to 9 years in prison on charges of gang rape in Italy. After his arrest in Brazil, he is serving his sentence in the local Tremembe prison.
Previously, Robinho`s defense challenged the legality of the arrest based on the verdict of a foreign court.
Brazil`s Federal Supreme Court voted overwhelmingly to uphold the verdict. 6 judges were in favor, one person was against.
Robinho`s defense challenged the legality of his arrest by a foreign court for gang rape. The ex-player of Real Madrid and Milan will remain in prison until the end of the trial
