Jared Bednar spoke about Alexander Ovechkin`s injury. The Washington captain is out for at least a week with a calf injury. He was injured after colliding with forward Jack McBain in a 6-2 loss to Utah.
The Avalanche will play the Capitals on November 22.
39-year-old Alexander Ovechkin is in 2nd place in regular season goals in NHL history (868), second only to Wayne Gretzky (894).
I never like to see this. No matter the situation, you never want to see players fall. It`s a power game and injuries are part of it, but I think the competitive spirit in me wants to play against the other team`s lineup. And I want our team to have our entire roster.
Obviously, that doesn`t happen when you`re talking about an 82-game season. But we`re talking about a situation like Ovi`s, where he`s striving for greatness and you want to see him healthy and able to continue the race.
He`s had a great start to the season, even considering the night he got injured. Hopefully it won`t be long and he can come back.
Injuries are part of the game. “I think everyone has to deal with them, but I would definitely like to see him get healthy and continue to strive for his goals, ” Colorado head coach Jared Bednar said.
