Mirra Andreeva shared her expectations from the first round in Rome.
I wanted to play with Badosa, and I will play with her! She`s an amazing tennis player and I`ve seen a lot of her matches, like when she won Indian Wells in 2021, and I`ve watched a few of her matches recently too.
I think when you play against a strong opponent, you become better yourself and challenge yourself until the last shot. You give 100% and want to win.
Before a match with a seeded opponent or with those who have won WTA tournaments, I think: I am in for a test - and this helps me improve. This gives me the opportunity to improve as a person, and after winning these matches I am even more happy. I`m really looking forward to our match because it will help me improve my game and become a better person.
Now Andreeva is working in test mode with coach Conchita Martinez.
I know that she won this tournament four years in a row. She has a special connection with Rome. But I haven`t seen her matches. I keep saying: I`ll watch it tonight. Maybe this week, but not yet.
