Evgeni Malkin avoided a serious leg injury after being thrown by Sidney Crosby.
The Pittsburgh forward was injured while scoring against Florida (4:2) in the NHL regular season match. The puck hit him in the knee from a shot from Sidney Crosby and bounced into the goal.
The forward took part in Pittsburgh`s training session on Saturday. He expects to play against Carolina on Sunday.
It was painful. My leg is a little numb. I was a little scared because it`s the same knee that I had surgery on. But after 10-15 minutes I felt much better.
I applied ice to the bruise and within half an hour I was able to walk. My knee felt much better. If I hadn’t scored, it would have been worse, ” Malkin said.
He`s a tough guy. We were lucky to avoid something more serious. He skated well in practice, and we are certainly encouraged by that, ” Pittsburgh head coach Mike Sullivan said.
