Today, May 31, the trial began in the case of Alexander Zverev on domestic violence.
The tennis player is accused of pushing his ex-girlfriend against the wall and choking her with both hands after an argument in an apartment in Berlin. After this, she experienced a sore throat for several days and had difficulty swallowing.
Alfred Dirlamme, Zverev`s lawyer, called the accusations unfounded and contradictory. He said that an objective picture of events will become visible when the court hears other witnesses and reads the correspondence. He also tried to portray his ex-girlfriend as someone who is driven by fame and money and is only interested in the number of followers on social media.
After this, the trial was postponed at the request of the defense. They ask that in the future the case be held behind closed doors to protect the privacy of Zverev and his daughter.
The prosecution`s lawyer said he supported the request that the rest of the trial be held behind closed doors.
The judge may grant the request in whole or in part (limit the transfer of some information).
