The Australian city where the NHL match is planned to be held has been named.

Former goalkeeper and insider Kevin Wicks has revealed that Melbourne - Australia`s second-largest city - is at the top of league bosses` list for a pre-season match.

It was previously reported that the NHL was considering organizing the game in early 2023 or 2024.

There is only one Australian player in all 32 NHL clubs: St. Louis forward Nathan Walker, who was born in Wales but grew up in Sydney.

Australia is ranked 29th in the IIHF rankings.
