The main point is that in all the simulators I drive different vehicles, but not Formula 1 cars. Here you have to adapt, change your driving style - after all, different cars require different work with the steering wheel and gas pedal, and the optimal racing trajectories differ. I`m constantly learning and trying to adapt to the requirements of each car as quickly as possible.
It helps in the end when I come back to Formula 1 because the whole experience stays in your head. Sometimes you may not be completely happy with the settings of your car, but the experience of sim racing helps you refine them on the simulator. Yes, it makes me a more versatile rider, which is what I strive for.
If we talk about differences, then sim racing lacks overload. In real racing, a lot depends on the sensations that are transmitted through the steering wheel. Although I have to say that simulators are becoming more and more accurate - I would even say that the feeling there is 90 percent the same as driving a real race car.
That being said, I still believe that it will be very difficult for someone who grew up only racing in a simulator to immediately come into the world of real racing. Although we have already seen in the past that this is possible.
Another key difference is the physical demands of actual racing. You must be in good shape, you must be trained. On the simulator you can be very fast even without proper physical training, ” Verstappen said.
