Robert Lewandowski is likely to play against Atletico despite his suspension.
Earlier, the Central Court of Madrid handed down a three-match disqualification for Lewandowski, as a result of which the Barcelona striker was able to take part in the match of the 15th round of La Liga against Espanyol (1:1).
It is currently unknown when the court will complete its consideration of the case. Barcelona officials are scheduled to be called to testify on the matter.
There are two possible outcomes of the case. If the court upholds the suspended suspension, then Lewandowski will continue to play for Barcelona until a final decision is made. If the court cancels the suspension of disqualification, it will immediately take effect.
In any case, Barcelona is convinced that the forward will be able to play against Atlético Madrid on January 8, as consideration of the issue may be delayed.
