Former Formula 1 driver Hans-Joachim Stuck shared his opinion about the behavior of Max Verstappen.
In Brazil, the Red Bull driver refused to return the position to team-mate Sergio Perez, despite the team`s orders. Stuck said that he discussed the scandal with Bernie Ecclestone: the ex-head of Formula 1 would have taken tough measures in the place of the Red Bull managers.
- This is an obvious mistake. In my opinion, it was a lack of discipline. He should have just let Perez pass. After the incident I spoke to Bernie Ecclestone on the phone. He was very clear: if one of his pilots had disobeyed orders, Bernie would have thrown him out.
– If I were the manager, I would also punish the pilot. The first rule of Formula 1 is unconditional execution of team orders. The riders sign the contract.
- Exactly. He would go to great lengths for Verstappen. So it is even more difficult to understand the situation.
- We`ll see (laughs). I hope not, because the Verstappen-Perez lineup is ideal for Red Bull. Max understands that his partner will do anything for him. Typically, this should work in reverse as well. Not all teams have this unity, but the structure has certainly suffered.
