Verstappen surprised by pole position in Miami sprint qualifying.
The Red Bull driver summed up the results of qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix sprint, where he will start first.
The lap felt terrible. Perhaps during the last session it was just incredibly difficult to get the tires to work. Already in the second segment I felt that everything was not going very well. The same thing happened in the third.
I haven`t really improved my time on the software. Somehow we were the first. Of course, I`m glad it happened this way. But for some reason it was unpleasant to pilot. In practice, the car handled quite well, I felt comfortable and confident. In qualifying, everything was not very good.
Perhaps it`s a coating issue. After practice I was quite confident that we could compete for pole [in qualifying for the sprint], but during qualifying I no longer thought so.
But somehow we became the first. I don’t know what happened to the others on the last lap, ” Verstappen said.
