Ex-first racket of the world Boris Becker told who he considers the favorites of the Australian Open.
Djokovic is the favorite, but not as obvious as in the past. Rod Laver Arena is his living room, where he feels most comfortable and took the title nine times.
He recently won a preparatory tournament in Adelaide, defeating Sebastian Korda in the final, and before that other strong opponents - Daniil Medvedev and Denis Shapovalov.
Novak had a bad experience in Australia last year and I`m glad we`re talking about tennis now.
For Novak, this will be a difficult tournament. Expectations are high as he wants to match Nadal in the number of Grand Slams. Also, he seems to have something wrong with his hip and is probably not 100% ready.
Medvedev is off the radar, but for me he is the third favorite after Nadal and Djokovic. By his standards, he had a weak second half of the season, but he should by no means be underestimated.
In the last two years he has reached the final in Melbourne, and even if no one talks about it, no one likes to play against Daniil, especially in a five-set format. It is not for nothing that he is called a chess player in the world of tennis, he is really a formidable opponent.
