Ross Brown on retirement: Would love to help F1, my phone is always on29-01-2023 |
Ross Brown is ready to advise the leadership of Formula 1, despite his retirement.
Brown served as sporting director of F-1 from 2017 to 2022.
I will continue to follow to some extent. [F-1 leader] Stefano [Domenicali] is a good friend of mine and as I told him, my phone is always on. If I can help with something and it does not require a lot of time, I will only be glad. But it`s more of an advisory role rather than an active position, ” Brown said.
The F1 veteran says his love for the championship hasn`t faded in his decades of racing:
It`s a great sport, an amazing combination of technology and talent. A great driver can end up in a terrible car, an average driver can be in a great car, and sometimes a great driver gets a great car. And so many things change as the season progresses.
Look at most sports, like athletics or tennis, usually someone is at the top and it`s very hard to beat him unless he falters.
We have periods of dominance, but rivals can quickly develop the car - and now, you no longer win. Constant changes, different tracks. It`s a unique sport and I`m very happy that after a few years of stagnation we are seeing a growing interest in F1. We must keep this passion.
But I am sailing away into the sunset and very happy - delighted - with the current situation in Formula 1. We must not forget how we worked for this, it is necessary to maintain progress.
