The Football Association of England (FA) has launched an investigation into the match between Oxford and Arsenal.
The London team beat Oxford in the round of 32 of the FA Cup (3-0). According to the Daily Mail, the FA has data on suspicious bets before the match, including text messages that Oxford defender Ciaron Brown will receive a yellow card.
One of the messages is believed to show a bookmaker`s sheet with a £200 bet that Brown would receive a yellow card. The ratio for this was 8 to 1.
The 24-year-old defender did receive a warning in the 59th minute of the game for a foul on Bukayo Saka. Eyewitnesses told the source that they saw several Arsenal fans celebrating Brown`s yellow card, boasting that they had won hundreds of pounds.
Oxford commented on the ongoing investigation.
Oxford United can confirm that they became aware of the suspicious betting incident during the FA Cup game against Arsenal on Monday night.
The club will cooperate fully with any investigation and while it is ongoing we cannot comment further, ” the club said in a statement to Sky Sports.
