Toronto point guard Fred Vanvliet spoke about his contract situation, noting that he did not refuse the offer of the Canadian club.
Previously, Vanvliet did not renew his contract with the Raptors before the start of the season. He was allegedly offered $114 million for 4 years.
I will never discuss my status and the nuances of contract negotiations with anyone, especially if there is a discussion between me and management. So it definitely didn`t come from me. But I never received an official offer.
An official proposal has never been made. It was a mutual decision of both parties that it would be wiser to wait. There was no rush, especially given the fact that I can still sign an extension until the end of the season. This summer I will also have a player option in my contract. We can deal with all this at the end of the season. I`m on the payroll for the next championship. So take my word for it.
I`m disappointed that this has become known. I don`t want it to distract us all. And I`m not going to talk about contracts and related situations regarding my agreement during the current season. I am completely focused on the team. I am committed to this team and this club, trying to bring us back to the level we are used to, ` Vanvliet said.
