According to the technical director of the team, the wind tunnel at the Silverstone base under construction will be used to create a car for the 2025 season. Aston Martin is currently working with Mercedes equipment in Brackley.
The goal is to start using the wind tunnel by mid-2024. We hope that she will make at least some contribution to the development of the car for the 2025 season. Apparently, this machine will be the first to be significantly affected by the new wind tunnel.
We are lucky that we use a Mercedes wind tunnel - this equipment is of very high quality. Therefore, you need to make sure that the results obtained in the new wind tunnel correlate with the previous ones. It takes time. But there are some things we can do to speed up the process. Of course, we want to launch it as soon as possible.
There is no doubt that the wind tunnel will be world class. And, of course, it is very important that we will have round-the-clock access to it. The more we progress, the less time we will be able to spend in the wind tunnel due to restrictions, but our own equipment allows us to conduct special experiments, and this is priceless. We could not afford such a luxury when we shared the wind tunnel with another team.
If we talk about the base as a whole, it will gradually be put into operation next year. We hope that the development of cars [before the 2025 season] will also be positively affected by the move to a new base, ” Fallows said.
