Max Verstappen said that he is an excellent team player.
The Red Bull driver said that the team had to understand what response they would receive to a request to return the position. At the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Sergio Perez missed Verstappen - the Mexican was told that his partner would return the place if he did not overtake the rivals in front. Max abruptly refused when the order came from the bridge.
It wasn`t a matter of position - it didn`t matter if it was first, second, sixth, seventh or tenth. The bottom line is what happened earlier in the season.
I already explained this in Mexico, the team understood and agreed. We came to Brazil, and I just thought that we would fight, try to achieve the best result. There was a little misunderstanding on Saturday and Sunday, I was not told anything about a potential exchange of positions or anything like that. It wasn`t until the last lap that I was told on the radio, and I think they should have known what the answer would be, considering what was said a week earlier.
After that race, we had a good talk, put everything on the table, resolved the situation. In retrospect, it was possible to have a conversation earlier, because I was never a bad partner - I was always very helpful, and the team knows it. The team has always come first for me, because, after all, this is a team sport.
So, I think we all have drawn conclusions and should be a little more open, better communicate with each other, - said the two-time Formula 1 champion.

Of course, after the race, I looked very bad in the media. But they don`t have a clear picture either. Blaming me right away is just ridiculous. After all, they do not know how I work in a team, what the team appreciates in me.
Everything I read was pretty disgusting. Moreover, they began to attack my family, threatened my sister, mother, girlfriend, father. In my opinion, this is too much - you do not even know the facts about what is happening. Certainly, this must stop. If there are problems with me, that`s fine, but don`t involve the family - that`s just not acceptable.
But we are moving on, and of course, I have a great relationship with Cheko. However, I don`t understand when people don`t see the whole picture and immediately start attacking me like that. I hope one day they will understand what is happening, because this is unacceptable behavior from so many people in the paddock - not only from the fans, to be honest. What they write about me is simply ridiculous.
