Team Alpin is ready to help Williams prepare Logan Sargeant for the 2023 season.
Sargeant scored the required number of points at the end of the Formula 2 season and will receive a super license to drive in Formula 1. Previously, he had already agreed with Williams on the terms of the contract. Sargeant will also play for Williams in the Abu Dhabi test.
At the same time, Alpin offered Serjeant the opportunity to conduct private tests on the car of one of the previous seasons. The same technique has been used by Oscar Piastri, Nick de Vries, Jack Doohan and Antonio Giovinazzi in recent Alpin private tests.
Alpin is ready to make a similar gesture as part of the cooperation between the two teams against the backdrop of an earlier agreement, under which Oscar Piastri was to spend the 2023 season at Williams. As a result, Pistri signed a contact with McLaren.
Alpin`s intentions were confirmed by team leader Otmar Szafnauer:
We would not mind putting Logan behind the wheel of one of the old cars and testing it. Williams helped me and Piastri a lot, and it would be extremely useful for Logan to work behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, albeit two years ago, but still relevant. If Williams agrees, we`ll be ready.
Does this seem unusual? Well, we hope that next year we will not be direct competitors! Perhaps in the future there will come a time to reconsider such cooperation.
