The first racket of the world, Iga Sventek, defeated Caroline Garcia at the final WTA tournament - 6:3, 6:2.
It was Šventek`s 15th match against top 10 opponents this season and her 14th win. In January, she lost to Ashleigh Barty, after which she won tens of 14 matches in a row.
Over the past 40 years, only five tennis players have won 14 consecutive victories over the top 10 in one season. They are Schwentek, Justine Henin (2007), Venus Williams (2001), Steffi Graf (1987, 1989, 1993 and 1995) and Martina Navratilova (1984 and 1986).
