Alexander Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky`s record for the number of goals in an empty net on the road.

He now has 31 away goals into empty nets in his league career (49 in total). Gretzky has 30 (total 56).

The next places in the ranking are occupied by Marian Gossa (21), Joe Thornton, Eric Staal and Pavel Bure (16 each).
