The European Football Association (UEFA) has expressed confidence that it will not have to resort to British aid and will hold the upcoming European Football Championship in 12 countries, as planned. Earlier today, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said his country was ready to host all Euro 2020 matches in June and July if necessary. The government in London plans to lift all restrictions on social distance from June 21. Wembley National Stadium in London must host Group D matches, as well as the semi-finals and finals of the tournament. The Scottish city of Glasgow will also host three group stage matches and one of the quarter-finals .
UEFA declined to comment directly on Johnson`s proposal, but said they continued to follow the current plan. However, the final decision on the European Championship must be made on April 5. `There is no way we will not hold the European Championship, it will take place. There is no worst-case scenario. The scenarios before us are realistic and the best, ` Dr Daniel Koch, UEFA`s medical adviser, told Reuters. Euro 2020.
UEFA currently envisages four possible options for holding the matches of the championship - in full stadiums, with occupancy between 50 and 100 percent, with occupancy between 20 and 30 percent and in front of empty stands.
