The arbitral tribunal upheld Diana Yastremska`s sentence4-02-2021 |
The Lausanne Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the appeal of Ukrainian tennis player Diana Yastremska, who was suspended from participating in tournaments for violating anti-doping rules. Yastremskaya was suspended on January 7th after a banned substance was found in the urine of a 20-year-old Ukrainian woman. After she was stopped, she sought help from the International Tennis Federation (ITF), which confirmed her sentence and left her in a situation of temporary revocation of rights until a second decision. She then lodged another complaint, this time with the CAS, with the two sides agreeing to deal with the expedited case, hoping that the ban would be lifted at least temporarily and that she would take part in the Australian Open. But today the CAS upheld her sentence. Jastremska ranks 29th in the UTA rankings, and her best Grand Slam achievement is the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2019. Otherwise, there are three victories in the round.
