Liverpool is in its longest goalless streak in 15 years19-01-2021 |
Liverpool are in their longest `dry` series since 2005, after finishing 0-0 with Manchester United and not scoring a goal in the domestic league in three consecutive games. Jurgen Klopp`s team started the match with three points behind the leader in the championship Manchester United, but both teams made a tactical overtime and did not score for a draw. Thus, the champions remained third after 18 matches and are one point behind Leicester City. Liverpool is without a goal in three consecutive games and is only the third champion in history with such a series. Arsenal did it in the 1998/1999 season and Leicester repeated it in 2016/2017. Liverpool is also in a series of four consecutive games without a victory, as the team has scored only one goal in these matches. The series began after a 7-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on December 19, after which the champions ended in a draw 1:1 with West Brom, 0:0 with Newcastle and lost 0:1 against Southampton. On Sunday came the draw with United. Although some bad series continue, the same goes for a positive one. Liverpool have not lost to Anfield in 68 consecutive Premier League games, and the last defeat was 1:2 against Crystal Palace in April 2017.
However, another series fell on Sunday after United kept the `reds`without a goal in the home for the first time since October 2018. Then Manchester City did not allow a goal against Liverpool, which scored in the next 42 games.
