Ajax have to change their style of play after the sale of midfielder Hakim Ziesh to Chelsea and the potential six more to leave this summer, said Amsterdam head coach Eric ten Haag.
Ziesch was one of Ajax`s key players in reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League last season and in dominating the team in the Dutch league.
Last season, other key players such as Frankie de Jong left for Barcelona and Matthias de Licht moved to Juventus. The club recently parted ways with Joel Veltman, who moved to Brighton, and Svet Botman, who moved to Lille. Transfers of Andre Onana, Nicolas Taliafico and Donnie van de Beek are also expected.
When you lose so many key players, our style of play will change anyway. But aggression and intensity will remain the same. We have players for all positions and we will see if we need to fill the squad with boys from school or we will have to attract a player from another club, commented Tan Haag at the start of Ajax`s pre-season training.
