LA Dodgers gave a dramatic victory for Jackie Robinson`s Day11-08-2019 |
The Los Angeles Dodgers honored the memory of the first black Major League Baseball player in the United States (Major League Baseball) with a dramatic home win against Cincinnati Reds. On Jackie Robinson`s Day, the rogues turned the Reds 4:3 to their Dodger senior thanks to Jok Piderson`s double homer in the 9th inning.
Traditionally on April 15 -;the day Robinson made his debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers team in 1947, all players in Major League wore a uniform with his number -;42. Jackie`s widow was present at the LA stadium -;Rachel Robinson, 96, and their children Sharon (69) and David (67). The son and daughter performed the ceremonial first throw of the match.
Then, for the first time in 2019, the ball was taken over by Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, tormented by inflammation in the shoulder of a throwing left hand since spring training. The three-time Sai Young winner started hesitantly and served a double homer on the third battery of the game, but then stabilized his control and allowed no more points for 7 innings.
Ironically, the author of Homerun in the 1st was not anybody else, but the recent Los Angeles star Yassel Puig. The Cuban-born Cuban in the winter was greeted warmly by Chavez Rabin`s audience, but received a mix of cheers and whistles as he made the 2:0 tour.
-;Matt Kemp hit a 3-2 infield hit in the opening ninth inning. In the meantime, the hosts were able to equalize with Cody Bellinger`s RBI double hit in the 1st and a full-base walk of AJ Polock, given by Reds starter Luis Castillo in the 5th. The split occurred in the latest Blue Band attack. It started with a pain base won by pinch-hitter David Frieze, who took the place of cousin Kenley Janssen (W 1-0). And it was over before Russell Iglesias (L 0-3, BS 1) made an out, as the next batter Jock Piderson fired his ball over the fence into the right outfield and ended the match.
