The winner of 12 Grand Slam titles Novak Djokovic has qualified for the quarterfinals of the Rome Masters Series tournament after defeating Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinollas 6:1, 7:5.
For the Serb, which is a four-time winner in the Italian capital, the tournament`s final eight is the first since Wimbledon. Djokovic, who had permanent elbow problems over the past year, showed he was back to his best shape and overcame Ramos-Vinollas without any particular difficulty.
In the next round, the former world leader will meet Japanese Kai Nishikori, who defeated 6:1, 6:2 German Phillip Kolshireber easily. The meeting between Nishikori and Kolshireber lasted only 65 minutes.
