The Spanish football league defeated defender Ruben Semedo with a wage suspension after a 23-year-old footballer was charged with attempted murder and robbery. Semedo was accused of having tied up another man with two of his friends, whom the three of them had violently done, and had also robbed his home. Villarreal said they were shocked by the accusations of one of their most permanent players but added that they would punish the Portuguese until the case became clear. Villarreal attracted Semedo in the summer against 14 million euros from Sporting (Lisbon).
